A. Indian Tribes – Northwestern Frontier. Letter from the Secretary of War, Transmitting the Information Required by a Resolution of the House of Representatives, of the 12th Inst. in Relation to the Hostile Disposition of Indian Tribes on the Northwestern Frontier, published 1828. This 19-page document contains reports on hostilities that appear mostly caused by the rampant incursion of miners onto Indian lands with no federal enforcement of Indian rights. Disbound. Condition: Minor toning and foxing in the first few pages. (B+)

B. Indians Hostile on Western Frontier. Letter from the Secretary of War, Upon the Subject of a Hostile Disposition Upon the Part of the Indians on the Western Frontier, published 1838. This 10-page document contains several letters about skirmishes between various Indian tribes and white settlers. One letter suggested that the prairie Indian tribes, particularly the Chickasaw and Choctaws, were preparing for war and that the "whole of the 3d infantry be concentrated at this post." Condition: Clean and bright. (A)
