This beautifully produced book draws from both Western and Chinese historical materials to tell the story of Taiwan from the ancient era to the Retrocession after the conclusion of World War II. It was written by Hsu Hsueh-chi of Academia Sinica, Wu Mi-cha of National Taiwan University, and Christine Vertente at Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, with text in both English and Chinese. There are 80 full-page color illustrations. Published by Mappamundi Publishers and SMC Publishing Inc. 160 pages. Hardbound in red cloth with gilt titles on cover and spine and an illustrated dust jacket.
