This handsomely produced reference on Malaya and Borneo is a collaboration between Dr. Frederic Durand, an expert in the geography and mapping of Southeast Asia, and Dato' Richard Curtis, a prominent businessman and collector who spent most of his life in Malaysia. The first section of the book traces the cartographic history of the region, and the second section details the 161 maps in the collections of Curtis and H.R.H. Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. The maps range from Munster's Ptolemaic map of the Malay Peninsula to 20th-century plans of Kuala Lumpur. Color illustrations fill the book, highlighting the finer details of these remarkable collections. Published by Editions Didier Millet and Jugra Publications. 264 pages. Hardbound in green cloth with gilt titles on front cover and spine and an illustrated dust jacket.
