Credited to "our Special Artist, Mr. H. C. Seppings Wright," this Spanish-American War-era engraving depicts cavalry members on picket duty in Tampa. Tampa was the point of departure for troops deploying to Cuba during the war. The caption here emphasizes the stirrups, bridle, and trappings of the horses, and the way the cavalrymen carry their weapons. Published in the June 18, 1898 issue of The Illustrated London News, which featured other engravings of the war from correspondent-artists. Wright's signature is reproduced within the engraving.
