This attractive copper engraved carte-a-figures map covers France in great detail. Ten figures flank the left and right side of the map showing the King, Queen, a merchant, a lawyer, and a farmer, to name a few. Above the map are eight town plans including Paris, Orleans, and Bordeaux. Imprint of Bassett and Chiswell in the title cartouche. English text on verso.

References: Shirley (BL Atlases) T.SPE-1j.

Condition: B

A nice impression with moderate toning along the centerfold due to the glue that was used to repair several separations along the centerfold and a pair of small worm holes adjacent to the centerfold at bottom. There is light mat burn surrounding the map, some show-through of tape stains on verso, and a few tiny tears along the edges of the sheet.

Estimate: $750 - $900
