A large copperplate map of the Lorraine region that is fully and beautifully engraved. Centered roughly on Nancy and including the fortified cities of Metz, Strasbourg, Belfort, Sedan and Luxembourg. The map is absolutely filled with details on the watershed, mountains, forests, towns and villages. A lovely figurative cartouche includes putti holding aloft the region's coat of arms, a soldier, a river god, and grapes.
