This lovely view depicts the entrance of the church of Saint-Eustache, located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. The view presents the new facade of the church, which was designed by architect Jean Hardouin-Mansart de Jouy in the mid-eighteenth century. Construction of the church began in 1532, however as the building was increased in size to accommodate a growing congregation, it suffered structural integrity, necessitating rebuilding of certain parts. This view was drawn by the archtect and engraved by Nicolas Jean-Baptiste de Poilly. A rare engraving.
