This two-sheet map of present-day Ukraine and the Black Sea shows the theater of war in the region, which has long been a contested region between Russia, Poland and Lithuania. This map represents a time in which Ukraine maintained relative independence with portions of the land governed by various Cossack hosts. Ukraine Pays des Cosaques is noted on the map along with the Zaporozhian and Don Cossacks. There is good detail throughout including watershed, roads, villages and cities, forests and mountains. Larger cities, such as Constantinople, Tekin (Bender), Ouzi Oczakow (Dziarcrimenda), Taman, and Magazin, are illustrated as miniature fortified plans. Each sheet stands on its own with full borders and a separate title at top.
