A large sheet of vellum containing five-line music from a Gradual. It is boldly written in Latin in black and red ink with two huge initials hand-painted in red and blue ink. The text on recto is “Viderunt omnes fines terrae salutare Dei nostri” (“All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God”), which is from Psalm 97 (98) and is the Communion for the 3rd Mass of Christmas. On verso the text continues "Dum medium silentium tenerent omnia..." ("While all things were in quiet silence").

There is light soiling and the recto is toned, as usual. This example has an old repaired tear in the margin that was sewn shut with string.
