This handsome facsimile atlas of The English Pilot - The Third Book (originally published in 1703) is Volume III from the fifth series of the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum collection. John Thornton completed and expanded John Seller's volume on "Oriental Navigation," and the resulting volume was the standard atlas for British navigators in the Far East and Indian Ocean. It features 32 double-page and 3 full-page charts, all in black & white. 226 pages, with an introduction by Professor Coolie Verner and R.A. Skelton. Elephant folio, hardbound in blue cloth boards with gilt insignia on cover, title on spine, and an illustrated dust jacket.
