This lot features two issues of Sunset Magazine, "The Magazine of the Pacific And of All The Far West," published only a few years after the devastating earthquake and fire of 1906. Both magazines include text, numerous illustrations, and extensive local advertising sections that provide a fascinating glimpse of life at the time. Of particular interest in the April 1908 issue is a long panoramic view entitled San Francisco, To-day, as Viewed from Rincon Hill, Showing the Remarkable Results Accomplished Since the Great Fire of April, 1906 (48.5 x 8.3"). This photographic view was taken by H.C. Tibbitts and shows the rebuilding of the central part of the burned district. Also of interest in the April 1909 issue is a single-page color view of San Francisco, From the Bay, To-Day, Showing the Long Lines of Substantial Business Blocks in the Downtown Section...
