This handsome miniature map depicts the strategic Strait of Magellan. Tierra del Fuego is still shown as a large landmass with the strapwork title and scale cartouches conveniently obscuring its extents. The tiny map is beautifully engraved with a stippled sea, elaborate compass rose, and penguins decorating the scale cartouche. French text on verso.
