Charming miniature world map on an oval projection, based on Ortelius. The large, mythical continent of Terra Australis fills the southern portion of the map, incorporating New Guinea. There are just a few place names noted in the map, including Anian, Tolm, Norumbega, California, Virginia and Florida. Strapwork designs fill the corners with the title above and the quote from Psalms, "Domini Est Terra Et Plenitudo Eius" (the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof) and Hondius' signature at bottom. On a sheet of Latin text measuring 7.0 x 9.8".

The map was first published by Cornelius Claesz and printed by Barent Langenes in the 1598 edition of the popular Map Treasury. This example was published in the first edition of Paulus Merula's Cosmographiae.
