This wall-sized map printed from four plates depicts the theater of war within central Europe for the War of the Spanish Succession. It is bounded by the cities of Eisenach in the northwest, Wroclaw in the northeast, Vienna in the southeast, and Lindau in the southwest. The map is densely engraved with miniature fortified cities, hundreds of tiny towns, early roads, rivers, mountains, and forests. The title cartouche features symbols of war and a battle scene. Printed on 4 sheets, joined. This map was first published by Pierre Mortier circa 1705, and then re-issued by Covens & Mortier in 1741.
