This well-preserved leaflet is coded "101-J-1" and was produced by the Psychological Warfare Branch of the U.S. Army. It was dropped by U.S. forces on Japanese troops on the island of Luzon in the Philippines to encourage surrender. The illustration on the front of the leaflet shows the islands of Taiwan, Ryukyu Islands, and Japan under bomb attack with large plumes of smoke rising into the sky. Large arrows show American ships and airplanes taking control of the region.

The back of the leaflet contains Japanese text and is accompanied by an additional page with the official English translation. A portion of this text is shown below (see images for complete text):

"As you know, Japanese soldiers in the Philippines have withdrawn to the mountains. You too are in this situation and the Battle of Luzon is almost over."

"The war has already moved from the Philippines to the Japanese homeland. You have been left to your fate."
