This densely engraved map of Turkey extends to include Cyprus and part of Crete. The map is filled with classical place names, political boundaries, and the river systems in the area. The lovely title cartouche is in the form of a partially rolled rug. Engraved by Jean Sommer. Dated 1652 but published in 1667 by Pierre Mariette.

Condition: A
Contemporary outline color on a bright sheet with a large coat of arms watermark. There is a hint of toning along the centerfold and a short archivally repaired centerfold separation in the bottom blank margin. A pair of small dampstains are confined to the side margins.
