This finely engraved gore sheet centered on the Caucasus was originally engraved for one of Coronelli's larger globes. The map covers parts of Ukraine and eastern Europe, the Caucasus, the Holy Land, and northern Egypt and Arabia. The image is finely engraved and filled with detail typical of Coronelli's great globes. Place names, political boundaries, rivers, and mountains are depicted throughout. On a full sheet with nice margins. Coronelli was a Venetian monk well known for his beautifully engraved maps and atlases, but his globes are the most magnificent examples of his work.
