Handsome map of the Nile River from the Mediterranean down to Aswan and including the Red Sea. Caravan routes are shown, as well as the domains of desert tribes. There is a fascinating note of a Crocodilopolis near Akmin. The city is now known as Faiyum, but apparently the ancient inhabitants paid particular reverence to the local crocodiles. The decorative cartouche features a waterfall and crocodile.

A crisp impression with contemporary color on a watermarked sheet. There is light toning along the centerfold at left and several tiny worm holes, two of which are in the image.
