This is the title page to a later Dutch edition of Linschoten's Itinerario, published in Amsterdam by Cloppenburg. The sheet shows an Indian and an African maiden paying tribute to the personification of Asia at top. A dramatic scene of a large army led by a mahout and his huge elephant fills a cartouche below the title. Linschoten's work is one of the most important early accounts of India, the East Indies, and the Portuguese colonies in Africa and South America.

A nice impression with minor toning.
