This book, with 100 beautifully reproduced colored maps, is a continuation of the effort by the Royal Geographical Society to reproduce important cartographic items for wide public access. Each map is accompanied by an extensive caption written by Goss. This volume is a treasure trove of information and illustrations. 224 pages, hardbound in dark blue cloth with gilt title on spine and illustrated dust jacket. First published in 1990, this is the later edition published by Barnes & Noble Books.
