This map by Gordon-Michael Scallion depicts a futurist’s view of the imminent dramatic changes expected in the U.S. topography resulting from a polar shift, global warming, melting of the polar ice caps and historic earthquakes. Scallion believed that much of the east and west coasts would be inundated (a return of the "islands" of California!) and the Great Lakes would merge into an inland sea. The text along the right border summarizes the prophet’s vision and additional text on the map offers further explanation. The map is remarkable for its effective communication of the author’s complex vision on a single high quality and attractive map. Scallion appears to have disappeared around 2011 along with the Matrix Institute. Third edition. Published by the Matrix Institute. This is a surprisingly uncommon map considering its relatively recent publication date.
