This scarce map of southern and eastern Asia was prepared by Annie Ryder Gracey (Mrs. J.T. Gracey) and published by The Woman's Foreign Missionary Society (WFMS) of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The WFMS was founded in Boston in 1869 and quickly sent their first two missionaries to India in 1870. WFMS was also responsible for providing the first female medical missionaries to Japan, China, and Korea. The huge map on muslin cloth was intended to be hung for instruction and perhaps fundraising (with eyelets still present for hanging) and provides basic details including political boundaries, places names, rivers, and the Great Wall of China. Features an inset map of "Stations in North India" at top left. Lithographed by B. Meisel in Boston, who also produced maps for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM).
