This well-preserved leaflet coded "136-J-1" was produced by the Psychological Warfare Branch of the U.S. Army. It was dropped by U.S. forces on Japan's mainland. The illustration on the front of the leaflet shows U.S. forces advancing from the south, with multiple fronts symbolized by American flags converging on Japan.
The back of the leaflet contains Japanese text and is accompanied by an additional page with the official English translation. A portion of this text is shown below (see images for complete text):
"The American offensive rolls on relentlessly. As a result of the inferior strategy of the militarists, the Japanese forces were defeated everywhere."
"Today the American troops in the Pacific are being augmented by great forces from Europe. The Japanese homeland is being relentlessly bombed."
