The United States Board on Geographic Names was established in 1890 to standardize the nomenclature and spelling of places within the United States. This is the first report issued by the Board, which includes over 2,000 decisions on names, as well as a list of the names of counties for each state. The report also features the bylaws and policies of the Board, including the policy for naming foreign countries and waters. 56 pp. Hardbound in black pebbled cloth with gilt titling and embossing on front cover.
