A fine set of steel engraved maps issued to provide the emerging knowledge of the interior desert regions of northern Africa. The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge produced some of the most detailed and respected maps of the mid-nineteenth century. They are filled with fascinating information. Included in the set are Ancient Africa or Libya (Part I and II), North Africa or Barbary: Part I - Morocco (illustrated), Part II - Algae, Part III - Tunis and Part of Tripoli, Part IV - Tripoli, and Part V - Parts of Tripoli and Egypt.
