Splendid double hemisphere map with CALIFORNIA AS AN ISLAND and filled with detail including the tracks of several explorers. Richly engraved with eight smaller spheres, numerous wind heads, lesser spheres and compass roses. One of the most graphic 18th century world maps. Expertly remargined at bottom and backed with tissue to repair a couple of minor marginal tears and centerfold. $2,100 RESERVE.
