Ptolemaic map of the region of Thailand and Malaysia based on the interpretations of Solinus and Munster. The map shows an oddly shaped peninsula to the east of the Ganges, and the China Sea (Sinus Magnus), with a landmass to the east of that. This depiction is the legacy of Ptolemy's idea of a landlocked Indian Ocean. A very interesting early map. Mild toning of fold and some manuscript writing on verso.
