Charming and decorative miniature version of Sanson's famous world map of 1660. CALIFORNIA IS SHOWN AS AN ISLAND, and parts of New Zealand and Tasmania are shown. The map is very similar to a larger map by Jans Luyts (Shirley #553) and is embellished with scenes and figures representing the continents. Shirley notes an Italian version very similar to this map (#551) but does not note this French version.
