Set of North and South circumpolar star charts. These charts were produced for the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge by Mr. W. Newton from the catalogue of the Astronomical Society. The maps use the Gnomonic Projection and include all the stars up to the fifth magnitude, or those that can been seen with the naked eye. The constellations are shown in allegorical form and are lightly hand-colored in pastel shades.
