Nice map of the majority of the continent, excluding Alaska and southern Mexico. The western region is virtually unknown, but notations are made concerning the recent discoveries along the Northwest coast by Bering, Tschirikow, de Fuente and de Fuca. The River of the West is shown flowing out of Lake Winnipeg and another major river is depicted emptying into San Francisco Bay. 'Quivira' is located in present day Nevada. The British Colonies are confined to the eastern seaboard. Decorative title cartouche. The map is surrounded by an engraved rococo style frame making it a very attractive sheet. Trimmed close at bottom affecting a tiny bit of the engraved frame, as issued, else fine.
