Stunning copper engraving of the Mississippi River valley with north oriented to the left of the map. Depicts the discoveries of Marquette and Joliet who are pictured in the cartouche. This unusual and very uncommon map is framed in an elaborately engraved, picture frame style border. Crisp impression on very fine paper with wide margins.
