An extremely detailed map of the eastern end of Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River with the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and part of New York. The states show early county configurations. The "Atlas Universel" contained 400 lithographed maps in 6 volumes. It was the first atlas to present all the maps on the same scale (1: 1,641,836). There was only one edition, published in 1825-27, and the subscription list shows that 810 copies were sold. Ref: Phillips' (Atlases) #747, Imago Mundi, Vol. 24. Professional repair of marginal fold separations. Lightly toned.
