The first is a handsome and well written history of the sea chart in exploration, navigation and war. Illustrated in color throughout. Hard bound in blue cloth with dust jacket, 136pp. Appears new. The second is by Jonathan T. Lanman, and is "Occasional Publication No.2" of The Herman Dunlap Smith Center for the History of Cartography. Published by the Newberry Library. An academic yet highly readable investigation into the subject. Paper covers, stapled. 56p, numerous charts and tables.
