Precisely engraved map of the world on Mercator's projection with the Americas on the right, rather than the more common orientation. The map focuses on topography rather than political detail, as such there are very few place names. Delicate title cartouche includes a globe and other scientific instruments. Two large worm holes on bottom centerfold have been backed with facsimile of a longitude line in pencil.
