The title page bills the book as "serving equally the purposes of a useful accompaniment to any of the un-illustrated local guides, or as a drawing-book for copying in pencil by the Tyro, and to assist the amateur in sketching from nature". It contains 30 uncolored copper engravings with brief descriptions of the most prominent sites on the island.
