Superb, decorative map of the continent engraved to distinguish between those regions under Catholic influence and those regions yet to be penetrated. In the Atlantic, a huge ship is seen in route to Brazil and Paraquay with its decked filled with Jesuit missionaries. In the Pacific a similar ship is portrayed in route to Peru and Chili. The title cartouche is supported by putti and trumpets extend from the heavens with verses from Psalms. This is a very beautiful map and a graphic record of the spread of Christianity in the New World.
