Later issue by Pieter Schenck of Johan Blaeu's extremely rare map of Brazil, which was issued shortly before the great fire that destroyed the printing house, and therefore was never included in Blaeu's atlases. The map includes the "Capitanias" along the coast and is a significant improvement over Blaeu's previous map of Brazil. The handsome cartouche is surrounded by cherubs and a river god.
