Fine map based on Ortelius' map of ancient Germany, which was in turn based on the classical writings of Ptolemy, Plinius, Strabo and others. The map is filled with forests and old place names. It is richly decorated with two elaborate cartouches featuring cherubs and warriors, and the sea includes a fine compass rose, ship and sea monster, all beautifully colored.
