This lot contains 24 woodcut illustrations, sizes varying from 4.5 x 5" to 19 x 11.5". Subjects include: Sinking of the Confederate raider ‘Alabama’; General Sherman in council deciding to raise the siege of Atlanta; Robert E. Lee, in a standing dress pose; a grouping of the Federal fleet at Hampton Roads, VA; the ‘Star of the West’ that was sent to reinforce the Union troops at Ft. Sumter at the outbreak of war, but was driven off; several images regarding Vicksburg and its surrender; the ruins of Richmond; the ill-fated Union assault at Marye's Heights, Fredericksburg; and Banks landing at Baton Rouge featuring many steam/sailing ships and a armored ship disembarking soldiers.
