A beautiful French edition of Tirion's 1754 map of the Americas. The maps are identical except that Tirion's plain cartouche has been replaced by a highly decorated scrollwork and floral cartouche. A NORTHWEST PASSAGE is shown through North America, beginning at the Great Lakes and ending in a large river emptying into the Pacific at about 50 deg. Latitude.
