A fine map of western Africa featuring the Sahara Desert, the Niger River, the coast of Guinea, Congo and Angola. The large pictorial cartouche shows rescue and shipwreck off the coast of Guinea. The map is still bound into the book, which describes an important travel voyage, by a German Nobleman to Guinea with two Royal Warships in the year 1682. The book is further illustrated with six folding plates showing various customs of the natives including one of cannibalism.
