Splendid chart of Egmont Harbor, Nova Scotia - 30 miles east of Halifax. The beautifully engraved chart shows topography, soundings, anchorages & navigational notes. A circular vignette is superimposed on the chart with a view of what appears to be the only settlement there. At bottom is another engraved view of the coastline, as seen from the sea. The title, which includes detailed sailing instructions appears as a scrap of paper laid across the chart. The Atlantic Neptune was one of the most elegant and ambitious sea atlases ever produced. It was commissioned by the British crown for use by the Royal Navy just prior to the American Revolution.

Uncolored except for a light wash in the border. A few tissue repairs (some on face of the map), mostly in margins, but a couple just entering the plate.
