Very nice tinted lithograph from the 1855 U.S. Pacific RR Survey depicting the San Fernando Valley when it had only a Mission and the occasional ranch house. In the foreground, a "Californio" harvests a cactus pear. A far cry from today's sprawling suburb near Los Angeles. Plate VI from the geology report.
