Superb woodblock illustration of a terrestrial globe showing the Eastern Hemisphere with a huge Taprobana prominently shown and named. Below the globe are a Pillar Dial and a quadrant with a shadow square. Throughout his life, Apianus was involved in mathematical publishing, cartography and instrument making. His instrument designs included a new type of surveying quadrant and armillary spheres. On a full sheet with Latin text above, size: 5.7 x 8.7".
