Collection of 18th century folio engravings after Raphael (1483-1520) by Bernardino Pinturicchio (1454-1513) as engraved by Raimando Fanucchi (active 1770-1789) with two dated 1770 and 1771. All are very detailed and depict historical and religious scenes, fully inscribed in Latin. Each is fully surrounded by a decorative architectural-style border.
This is the complete set of 10 images from the Duomo library in Siena built by Pope Pius II. The original sketches were by Raphael of Urbino in his youth as a student of Pietro Perugino. The images are of various accomplishments of Pius II, also known as Aeneas. Only one of the 10 panels exists today and may still be seen at the Duomo. Complete set of 10. A fabulous set.
