The life of Christopher Columbus is a fascinating story of a man living ahead of his time. The true impact of his discoveries, which shattered medieval provincialism and presented the New World to the Old, was not felt in Columbus' own lifetime. Morison began his research in 1938 and wrote the first book in 1942, which won the Pulitzer Prize in biography. The second, more than 25 years in the making, is a companion to that original work. First is the condensed edition, 680 pp, illustrated with drawings and maps including 2 folding. Second is 417 pp, illustrated by Lima de Frietas. Hardbound in pictorial covers in slipcase.
