A series of 30 pages of lithographed views (two per page) along the US/Mexican boundary drawn in conjunction with the War Department Survey. The views served to assist in locating the border, an important consideration since "the boundary line established by this article shall be religiously respected by each of the two republics." Four pages of Prefatory Remarks detail the purpose and scope of the survey as it relates to the Treaty of 1853 and officially places Lt. Emory in charge. To McClelland, Secretary of the Interior, and signed in type by Franklin Pierce, President.
