A large and very detailed lithographed map showing the extent of the U.S. State Surveys to date. Details include township subdivisions, railroads, watersheds, and mining activities. A legend color-codes the location of gold, silver, copper, quicksilver, iron, tin, oil wells etc., providing an excellent perspective of the immense wealth of the nation. A remarkable and large chart signed in the plate by Joseph Wilson, commissioner to the GLO.
