One of the best mid-nineteenth century maps of California. Huge inset titled "City of San Francisco" shows the planned land expansion into the bay with the streets already drawn in. Two proposed railroad routes through the Central Valley and another west of the Coastal Range are labeled "Explored Route for Atlantic & Pacific R.R." A desirable map with Colton's strapwork borders.
