Beautiful copper engraved map of the islands with the route of Cook's ships in both 1778 and 1779. Fabulously engraved with a large title cartouche depicting the demise of Capt. Cook at the hands of the native islanders. Lovely paper and impression with wide margins. Keyboard style border, two distance scales. A most desirable and scarce chart of Hawaii.

Good impression on thick paper with wide margins. Very lovely original coloring. The Capt. Cook scene is fully and particularly well colored, even using gauche. Colors have mellowed a little with age. Traces of light foxing, else very good.
